Crestwood's Vision 2009
The Dream of Crestwood

* It is the dream of Christ, being at the core of every gathering, every
project, every ministry, every home and every person.

* It is the dream of a place where the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated,
and the confused can find love, truth, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness,
guidance and encouragement.

* It is the dream of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the hundreds
of thousands of residents in Polk County.

* It is the dream of welcoming hundreds of members into the fellowship of our
church family, loving, learning, laughing and living in harmony together.

* It is the dream of developing people into spiritual maturity through Bible
study, small groups, seminars and retreats.

* It is the dream of equipping every believer for a significant ministry by
helping others discover the gifts and talents God gave them.

* It is the dream of sending out dozens of career missionaries and church
workers all around the world and empowering every member for a personal
life mission in the world.

* It is the dream of sending our members on short term mission projects to
every continent.

* It is the dream of starting new daughter churches every year.

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!
The Christmas story (the Jesus one not Santa) offers so much hope and joy to everyone who receives this precious gift of Salvation. On the heels of Christmas is a New Year. The renewing of the year is another event which offers an opportunity for refreshing and soul renewal to everyone through Christ. I love to reflect on the past year and listen for God's guidance on how I can commit more fully to him for the coming year. Forgetting what is behind and moving forward to reach for the prize of the high calling of Jesus.

Each year, the President of the U.S. presents a State of the Union Address and lays out the plans and directions of his vision for the country.  In my own State of the Church address I believe God has put upon my heart two focuses that are paramount for Crestwood to be the church God has called us to be.  Two words sum up the direction I sense God leading us in 2009 and beyond:  Community & Bridges.

Community deals with the fellowship of believers.  We as a church must continue to grow in devotion to one another as we grow in devotion to God.  We have very little to offer those around us if we are not evidently experiencing His loving presence among us.

Bridges refers to the call God has on our lives to "Go".  We dare not bear the name of Christian and not care about the most urgent task on God's heart, reaching people with the transforming message of the Gospel.  To do this we must find the relational bridges that God has provided to enter into relationships that will offer opportunities to share the Good News with others.

So come on out this Sunday to join the family of Crestwood as we come together in unity & purpose and prepare for a Christ-centered and prosperous New Year!

GOD IS AWESOME!

“Love one another . . . Go make disciples”     (Matt. 22:16, 28:18)

I'm sitting on a sermon that God gave me two weeks ago.  The first week we had a great testimony from Bro. David and I felt it was a great segue to the message God had laid on my heart.  I intended to share the message last week, but Mr. Jack Frost paid a visit and so I tucked it away for one more week.  By the time you read this you may have heard the "well aged" message (though Frosty is due back in town this week).  Either way I am stoked about the word God has given me and look forward to sharing it with you.  So whether this is a preview or a review I want to share the two areas of concern God has laid on my heart.

I'm calling this message the "State of the Church Address".  Each year, the President of the U.S. presents a State of the Union Address and lays out the plans and directions of his vision for the country.  I believe God has upon my heart two focuses that are paramount for Crestwood to be the church God has called us to be.  Two words sum up the direction where I sense God leading us : Community & Bridges.

So come on out this Sunday to join the family of Crestwood as we come together in unity & purpose.

GOD IS ABLE!
